At the moment, the German and the French edition of the printed SWISS WORLD ATLAS are revised. Two important actualizations concern global topics.

The strong growth of the population of large cities is considered using additional city signatures. Cities with more than 5 million inhabitants are now marked as metropolis, and cities with more than 10 million inhabitants as megacities. The reference area for the updated number of inhabitants is the official urban area and not the agglomeration. In order to compare the economic development of individual countries, all economic diagrams are updated to the year 2006. The exported and imported goods are divided in 15 groups and the denomination is adjusted accordingly. The sources for this new classification are the statistics of the International Trade Center (ITC). A Trade Performance Index is assigned to each country. The new atlas edition is scheduled to be available in autumn 2010 from the "Lehrmittelverlag des Kantons Zürich".
