Prototype test phase successfully completed

The third and last prototype test phase of the SWISS WORLD ATLAS interactive was completed in early May. We would like to thank all participants. With the help of the numerous feedbacks we could localise and improve weak points in the usability of the atlas.

Participants and field of work

As demonstrated by the results, the atlas performance could be clearly enhanced compared to the previous two test phases: above all we are very pleased that all participants assessed the usability (loading of maps, access of modules, etc.) of the atlas as very good to good.
75% of the participants had no problems running the atlas and only 5% were not able to start it. The main reasons therefore could be found in old operating systems or outdated java versions. Some participants encountered problems with faulty globe or block diagram displays. For these applications specific graphic card requirements have to be met in order to display error free 3D visualisations.
